My weekly insurance business review Sept. 21st-Sept 27th 2020

Going forward I am adding a section to this blog which is going to be a re-cap of my weekly experiences in the life insurance business, and was an idea I had after making my last post a few days ago- A day in the life of a life insurance advisor. I hope you find some value in it since I will try to explain the work I'm doing to help other people, and the training that I continually do to get better and better at this business. Review Time Since we are still dealing with COVID-19, I have made adjustments to the way I conduct business the past several months, just like everyone else. Using Zoom, I can do just about everything that I can do in person, with the exception of giving your dog a treat! I was able to do a few of these meetings this week, and outside of a few technical glitches it worked out well. I have gotten used to helping people get set up with Zoom, and for many people they are happy to have the option. I still had to meet one of the clients to get a real signature for an application, but otherwise everything else was done via phone and zoom. Prospecting. Ugh! I didn't do as much as I would have liked to. I try to call at least 200 people a week and I barely made it past 100. Most of my calls this week were about our Medicare supplement product that I offer, and I was off-track at the start of the week and that carried over for the entire week. Better luck next time! That takes me to training time. There is a lot going on before AEP, (annual enrollment period) for those people that have Medicare, during October 15th to December 7th, people can shop plans and find different Medicare Advantage plans. A number of the large carriers offer certification and training programs to help you promote their products. I bet I spent 20 hours this week going through training and materials related to Medicare. I don't know everything about Medicare, but I know where to get an answer for everything! One of my managers has an office in Scottsdale, and I spent a good part of Saturday learning from a couple of Medicare experts who have been in the business a long time. This was by far the best training so far in the Medicare world. Finally, I met with a current client of mine on that I was happy to help again, adding to her life insurance plan for her nephew, at a very reasonable rate with one of my top carriers. She was happy. So in all, a productive week, and as I look toward the final week of the month, hope that I can round it out with several more appointments and a few more clients put into a better financial position. See you next week!
